    Password protection: basic question

Hi: I can't seem to find an answer to what seems to be a pretty basic question. What is protected by the password logon in Window 7? If someone gets ahold of my notebook, can they remove the drive and access the data as a secondary drive? I keep various data all over the drive, not just in my folder (I'm the only user).

On my XP notebook, I've encrypted the entire drive with TrueCrypt and a strong password. Should I do the same on my Windows 7 machine?

    Thanks,

    George

Yes, anyone with physical access to your machine could stick your hard drive into their computer, and access all the data.

If you want that secured, you should encrypt the drive, using whatever program you like.

Obviously, nobody can access your hard drive over the internet. They can only try to crack your password. You should have a strong password for that cause.
