forgot password! help!

Before I start... I am the furthest from being smart..
now that that's out of the way..

I have had my comptuer a month and a half, sign into it about 3x a week.
didnt use it for the last 4 days. and i forgot my password!
its only my account on their and i dont know what to do.

Ive tried guessing, ive tried ophcheck.. it said it recognizes accoutns and should find the password.. but it didnt show my pass.

I used another bios disk boot method. I cant remember the name of it. But also, didnt work.

My computer didnt come with the hard copy windows disk. But i have the key on the side of the tower.
I read around, and people said my back up and factory settings could be on another drive in case i need to format.

Basically im asking, is there a way to bypass my password?
Or recover my password?
and if all else fails... reformat my computer?

Did you not get the option to create a recovery disc when you first configured your new PC. If not I should contact your supplier. I think though I am not certain that you will need to be able to boot from the CD to recover your password

I did get the option to create one. I just wasnt in a rush to do it. I can format and recover without it. Becuase a partition on my drive is the recovery and factory settings.
I was told by a few people to still make one.. but me being the smart man i am.. didnt listen.
I would assume my brain would retain a password... i just fail i guess

There are some freeware utils out there that enable you to recover your forgotten password, unfortunately this might be perceived as "hacking" or against 7 forums TOC which I don't think the moderators of the Seven Forums would take to so lightly, so I won't be able to post a link. But if you search hard enough you'll find them.... goodluck

Hello Brian,

METHOD THREE in the tutorial below should be able to reset the password for your user account.
