what do you think of my system?

Just looking for some input on my system. Been built for a while now and was wondering where i could improve with out shelling out a stupid amount of money.
im good at building the system its self and getting it all going but as for what components are better than others all i can look it as the stats on the screen of whatever web site im buying from lol.

My HD is only 500g but thats not an issue i dont save music or photos/vids on this system it just for gaming. The problem is newer games are starting to struggle on it. I know for the build im not gonna be able to run new ones on max settings but a little pick me up would be nice.

My only idea atm was a new FX card as the ram is top notch and over 4 gig is a bit overkill for games at the minute all tho my MB can take up to 8gig. i might go for this later but im sure theres other things i could go for first. All so what other CPU's are worth upgraging to from a q6600 or is it even worth it as if im honist this one has worked out great for me.

sorry for the long post but i look forward to some help lol

Hello vatz, welcome to Seven Forums!

A new video card would be a great start, have a look through the link below to get some ideas.

Realistically, you'd only need a new video card to give you a noticeable boost in most newer games.

A newer Q9550/Q9650 series quad would really be the only CPU's worth upgrading to, but at stock speeds, it wouldn't really be enough of a noticeable boost over a Q6660 to warrant the expense.

As the others have said, you don't need to upgrade anything else apart from your GFX card for your needs. If you would like to state a budget, maybe we can help fishing out a card suited for you.

Id like to stick to an nvidia card to be honest, I know ati cards are the ones to have right now but iv had nothing but problems with them.

Im liking the look of a gtx 280 if money allows it if not ill settle with a 260/275 as even if I go with a 260 it should be a hell of a lot better than what im useing. I might look in to a new cpu in the future as well but if you dont think theres gonna be much of differnce ill leave that till last.

    Thanks for the input!

If you do resort to a 260, just make sure it's the 260 with 216 shader cores. The original only had 192. It would have to be old stock to get an original though.

While a newer quad will out perform a Q6600 at stock speeds, the difference will not be by much.

If you have no plans to overclock, then go for the highest default clock speed you can afford.
