Just make sure you get all your data. Make a checklist of all the programs you have installed and verify if any of them have data or settings worth saving (Outlook, .....) | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP EliteBook 8530w Mobile Workstation OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86 build 7600 (XP, 98SE, 95, 3.11, DOS 7.10 on VM) + Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx CPU Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache) Motherboard Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset ICH9M-Enhanced Memory 2GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Card ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 256 MB Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 15.4-inch WXGA anti-glare (1280 x 800 resolution) Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Mouse Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad, USB Mouse Hard Drives 250GB Fujitsu MJA2250BH G2 ATA Device (IDE),

how can i backup trillian and forte newsreader? For Trillian
Go to C:\Program Files\Trillian\users\default and backup Buddies.xml (for contacts) and the Logs folder (for chat logs).
or you can just copy the whole C:\Program Files\Trillian folder. (you won't ecen have to reinstall. just copy it back and run trillian.exe) Trillian Discussion Forums - View Single Post - Backup / Transfer Preference Settings?
For Fort'e Agent NewsReader
How do I back up my data (prior to an upgrade)?
To backup your Agent files prior to an upgrade, you need to open Windows Explorer and select the Agent directory. The default Agent directory is 'C:\Program Files\Agent'. Select the 'Agent' directory, and right click on it, then choose 'copy'. This will insure that all subdirectories are copied, including the data directory. Now change to a temporary holding directory where you will store your backup copy. Right click within this directory, and choose 'paste'. This will copy your entire Agent directory to this temporary location. If there are any issues with your upgrade, you can reverse the copy process and paste the Agent directory back into the original location to restore your copy of Agent to where it was prior to the upgrade. Look in your programs folder for the rest. Plus in this day and age 10gb of space is not much, a few video clips and music files and 10Gb is gone!
BTW Still not sure what OS you are running, your profile says Vista but you talk of Win 7. perghaps you have both installed?
