    Changing from dynamic to basic


    Changed my drive from basic to dynamic right, using gparted to resize it wont let me becuase the drive hasto be basic. Please tell me there is a way to go back to basic from a dynamic drive state

    First, backup all data and partitions on the dynamic disk. Then delete all partitions from Disk Management (in Windows). Right-click on the disk and select Convert to Basic.

    Convert a Dynamic Disk to a Basic Disk

    Of course, you will not be able to recover the data on the deleted partitions, so make sure to backup everything you want to keep.

    yeah Its a project for university, I installed server 2003 fresh install and set up the dns server and domain controller. i had to split the main partition into two seperate volumes thats why i was using gparted to re-size since the function is disabled in server 2003. I was hoping there was a way to do it without re-formatting but thanks anyways.
