Windows 7: Used my RTM key on RC

Don't ask me why I did this, I just did

I was wondering, though. When I entered my RTM key at the end of RC setup it said that I had activated that version of windows and when I go to system is tells me it's activated. I'm still getting warnings that my OS will expire in a few hours here so it's got me worried. I'm about to put in my Windows 7 Disc and reinstall but I want to be sure that the key I have won't be invalidated because I used it on my RC.

It won't be inactivated, don't worry. If it is, just give MS a call: Microsoft Volume Licensing - Activation Centers

If it's the same exact hardware then there is a good chance that it won't, but if it does, you can explain to the activiation person on the phone that you accidentally used an old RC copy instead if your retail copy when re-installing. and they will likely get you activated...

Theres really nothing else you can do at this point.

Just to be sure, there is a 30 or 60 day trial period in which to obtain a key before I can no longer use the new OS, right?

There is a 30 day period that the OS can be used without a key. Don't worry, it should not think twice about accepting your key.
