Problems with Windows 7 Hey everyone I'm new here and I didn't know where to post this exactly so I think this would be a good spot. Anyways I have had windows 7 since it came out and now it is taking longer for windows to boot up. It probably takes 5 minutes just for me to get to the log in screen. This has just started happening the past few weeks, is there anything I can do to fix it?
Another problem I am having is that I am unable to open the action center for some reason. I click on open action center and the window never pops up.
I am running Windows 7 32bit Home Edition. Thanks for your help! | My System Specs |

This could be a number of reasons.
You could have a dodgy outdated set of drivers. Check to make sure they are all updated.
Do you do regular maintenance? Disc defragment or Disc cleanup?
System files could have gotten corrupted(This just happens sometimes) You could try a repair installation. Sometimes this will work. Your best bet it a clean installation though. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba P300 OS Windows 8 Pro CPU Intel Centrino Dual Core P7450 2.13GHz Memory 4gb Graphics Card ATI Mobility Raedon HD3650 Hard Drives Toshiba MK3252GSX ATA Internet Speed Wish it were faster |

Possibly, but the first question is, did you upgrade or clean install? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z46GDU OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 CPU P9700@2.8GHz 1066MHz FSB Motherboard Sony branded Memory 6GB DDR3 1066MHz Graphics Card 9300M GS 256MB Dedicated (Speed) + Intel4500MHD (Stamina) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13.1' WXGA Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives 320GB 7200RPM w/ 16MB cache Internet Speed 1MB/s |

One possibility is that something is wrong with your disk (since it happens before the logon screen, a common Windows 7 problem may be unlikely). Run a chkdsk /f in cmd. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

I did a clean install. I tihnk its a problem with my with my system files how do i do a repair installation?
I run defrag and disc cleanup also.
*edit*
I also cant run some programs like calclator, paint, remote desktop connection, and connect to projector in my accessories folder. Would that indicate a problem with my system files? The past two weeks my computer has been freezing lately and i have been just turning my computer off since it would just show a blank screen. | My System Specs | | |

I would schedule a disk check with chkdsk and run the Short DST of Seagate Seatools. Your hard disk may be having issues. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z46GDU OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 CPU P9700@2.8GHz 1066MHz FSB Motherboard Sony branded Memory 6GB DDR3 1066MHz Graphics Card 9300M GS 256MB Dedicated (Speed) + Intel4500MHD (Stamina) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13.1' WXGA Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives 320GB 7200RPM w/ 16MB cache Internet Speed 1MB/s |
