Explorer Problem:Renaming only taking effect after F5

**Explorer Problem : Renaming only taking effect after refresh (F5)

Hi guys.

Since I'm in a huge hard drive clean up these days, I am often renaming files, using software to batch rename and batch music tagging.

So, the problem is... When I rename a file manually, by right-clicking, rename then rename it, when clicking away, the file goes back to its original name. Pressing F5 (Refresh) shows that the name was really renamed. Sometimes, I even wonder if Windows REALLY renamed my file.

Exemple :

MY FIle.docx

renamed to..

This is my file.docx

but when clicking away, it returns to its formal name :

MY FIle.docx.

Probably that the problem could be solved by an Explorer reboot but it keeps coming back at one point. It's slightly annoying...

Any help on that topic is appreciated
See you later guys.

EDIT

Added Problem Step Recorder recording...

I have noticed that behavior before, but not just in Explorer. It also happened in PowerDesk (another file manager that I once used). So far, I have not seen that in the last couple of file managers that I have tried (2Explorer & Freecommander), but I haven't done all that much renaming to be sure.

I don't like to use file managers. So, this is a confirmed behavior... I would like to see a fix for that then.

The problem cannot be fixed. There is a delay between the rename and message for Explorer that the rename was successful, or the thread that is to update the listing was suspended for another thread. The problem is a combination of software and hardware. The first thing I would check is your antivirus, if you are running one, by turning if completely off.

You think that NOD32 is the problem?

I don't say either way. However, antivirus software hooks itself into the system, and the majority of realtime scanners hook into the file system to scan everything that is touched.
