    Now I’m really confused…

The reason I posted here in the first place was because no one could give me a straight answer.

I’ll read the tutorial posted by ‘Bare Foot Kid’ above. Maybe that’ll help.

    Cheers,

    Jessica

Do you have an OEM or retail license?

OEM - Tied to one PC.

Retail - Can be used on different PC's, but you must uninstall it from the first PC it was installed on originally.

    Simples.

The OP wants to know if it will be possible to move the HDD with Windows still installed and then re-activate in a new machine, as it's retail it should be possible using one of the methods in that tutorial.

Will y'all look at the #5 post.

Good point, I missed that one. But now I don't understand why Jessica is still confused.

To be fair, they might think just because they bought it of the net, that's what it is, which is why I posted the slmgr -dli so she could check, and you yourself asked "if it is full retail".

I have the full retail version. See this:

As I now understand it. I can do a rebuild including mobo, RAM, CPU and graphics card. Use my old hard drives (three of them) Wipe my C drive, reinstall Windows 7 64bit and then re-activate. All should then be OK.

Let me know if I got it wrong.

    Cheers everyone.
