Do I have to buy another Windows 7? Do I have to buy another Windows 7?
This might sound like a strange question, but no one I’ve asked so far can give me a straight answer.
I was thinking of upgrading, but decided instead to build new. My question is, do I have to buy another copy of Windows 7? I will be reusing my existing C drive as C drive with an activated copy of Windows 7 on it.
Can any one advise me? | My System Specs |

You can't have one copy of Windows 7 on two computers. It sounds like that's what you're planning so the answer would be yes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows7 beta 7000 CPU Intel E6550 Motherboard Intel DP35DP Memory 8Gb Graphics Card Nvidia 8500 GT Sound Card Intel onboard sound Monitor(s) Displays Two Gateway 22" LCD monitors Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Hard Drives Two 500Gb 7200rpm SATA |

I would'nt of thought so but don't quote me on that.
The last licence was tied to the hardware of the other computer and although your using the same drive I don't think that would qualify.
Just type your question into google and see what it throws up. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build. OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My new build will be a mobo, cpu, ram and graphics card. All the other bits and pieces will be the same. I have the full 32/64 bit retail version.
At what point does an upgrade become a new build? | My System Specs | | |

It will probably take a phone call to Microsoft for activation, explaining a new MB & Ram | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built them myself, Science Experiments ! This is a little iffy because a new mobo = a new system. You may get away with a robocall to Microsoft. I would try that before you spend money on a new Windows 7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Assuming its retail it will work. I recently changed out my motherboard, graphics and Hard drive, etc. I called instead, and made it so i could talk to a real person. The person I spoke to had an accent from India was but very good at his job. Very nice and wasn't like a robot. Knew his English very well and well everything worked out without having to struggle to explain to him.. Other peoples horror stories made me scared but now that i passed that phase, I was actually happy. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ZezasuBuilt OS Windows Seven x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 3.2Ghz Motherboard GA-UD3P Intel and Crossfire ready Memory 6GB Samsung Graphics Card 5850 Sapphire Toxic Edition Sound Card On Board relTek Monitor(s) Displays 23inch LG W2343T Dual Montiors Screen Resolution 1920-1680 Dualmonitors Keyboard Logitech illuminated keyboard Mouse Logitech Trackball PSU Corsair HX650W Case Lian Li Lan Cool PC-k7 Cooling Artic Freezer 7 Artic Case fans Hard Drives Western Digital 7200.
