But he is entitled to upgrade pricing since he owns previous versions, so 3 x $104 for retail upgrades is only $312.

That is true. Did not think of it. I never buy upgrades but rather OEM's because I want to keep my old system - at least for a while. And I always install a new system on a seperate disk - no double boot.

Thanks also for this info too, unfortunately over here across the pond we work in sterling not dollars which makes this option way too expensive for a simple home set up.

As long as it's understood by the OP that those are OEM and not retail and can only be installed to one machine and the individual keys can never be moved to another PC if need be.

This is not strictly true, as I have sucessfully given an OEM copy of 7 to my father who has installed it on a completely different specification PC and sucessfully activated. This is after I had done an Anytime upgrade to Ultimate on the original Home Premium PC using a new key, thereby making the old key valid again...or at least that's how I see it!
