Oh, FFS what next? 7 is de-activated... On this new PC build, to avoid 7 de-activating Vista, I installed and activated the beta first. I then installed Vista. All was good.
Since I've spent the majority of time re-setting up Vista, I haven't been booting into 7 all that much. When I did, it was only to discover a new 'problem'
Long story short: I'm in 7 and I just noticed a balloon tip telling me to activate the beta, so I checked, and sure enough the beta has 16 days left to activate You have got to be flapping well kidding me...
I just know that if I re-activate the beta, it will knock out Vista again and I'm not in the mood to install another copy of Vista to re-activate the original one. (My work around from last time) I've had my current fill of OS installing
I'm seriously thinking of ditching this build and waiting for the 'public' one.
Has anyone else had the pleasure of having their 6801 build becoming deactivated, or am I on my own again with this particular treat?

most of current activators do not disable the baloon notification, they just prolong to infinite your expiration date, so after the expiration date expires your baloon will get away however your 7 will be continuing to work... in other words, no need for re-activation | My System Specs | | OS Microsoft Windows 6.1 (Build 6801) |

I have had no problems with Activation and didn't even need to do it over the phone it was all in the click of a button . Since I activated it and have never had any balloons telling me to activate again, nor have I experienced any problems with my Vista install, I am on a Dual boot on separate hard drives and both are 64bit versions and I had Vista installed first .
So to sum it all up, I think that you are just plain unlucky and maybe you have jinxed yourself with the title of Beta Breaker . | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

(sorry all, but sh*t I'm cranky ATM ) Why would activating Windows 7 knock out Vista's activation, unless your Vista is not RTM? Never heard of that unless you are using the same key. You should use an old Vista RC1 or 2 key for Windows 7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware® ALX X58 OS Vista Ult SP2/Win 7 Ult SP1/Win 8 Pro w/MC/x64/XP SP3 x86 in VM CPU Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme O/C to 4.02 GHz, 8MB Cache Motherboard Asus® P6T Deluxe V2 X58 LGA1366 Memory 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 6 x 2048MB Graphics Card 1792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295/Hauppauge HVR2250 TV Tuner Sound Card Onboard Soundmax® High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung XL2370 LED backlit 23" W/S 2ms response time Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 Keyboard Microsoft® Wireless Entertainment 8000 + Logitech® G15 Wired Mouse Microsoft® Wireless Laser 8000 + Logitech® G9 Wired PSU Alienware® 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Case Alienware® P2 ALX Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling Cooling Alienware® High-Perf. I've never heard of this issue either
I did use an old Vista RC key with phone activation originally. I threw caution to the wind and just used an activator. It worked. Vista's still happy too.
So yeah, I think have jinxed myself
In the last month alone I've had:
2 HDD's dying within a week of each other.
Brand new faulty motherboard.
Stuck sensors on new CPU.
RAM issues
New 4850 card with ridiculously high temps. (I don't care what ATI says, 90c+ is too HOT)
And a shedload of software glitches / issues. As soon as I correct one thing, another rears it's head. I guess it's payback for all that relatively smooth sailing until now | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number SmartEyeball Custom Systems OS 8 Pro x64 CPU i7 3770K 4.6GHz Motherboard ASUS P8Z77 WS (great board good slot placement) Memory 16GB G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz Graphics Card 2x Gigabyte GTX 670 OC WindForce SLI Sound Card X-FI Forte 7.1 + ATH-AD900 Headphones Monitor(s) Displays x3 Dell U2410 / 58" Samsung / "40 Sony Screen Resolution 1920*1200 / 1920*1080 Keyboard Topre Realforce // Ducky Shine MX Black // Filco Ninja TKL Mouse Razer Imperator + Thermaltake Theron PSU Corsair AX1200W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives 2x Intel 520 240GB (RAID 0) * 2x WD Caviar Blacks 2TB (RAID 0) * 2TB WD Caviar Black Antivirus MSE Browser Opera, Chrome, FF Other Info GT Extreme V2 Sim Racing Cockpit + 40" LCD and K/B Mouse stand ▼
