It only works for NTFS partitions. But the neat thing is it is hooked into the NTFS journaling(file system tracking used to make sure operations completed) system. Therefore it doesn't need to index your files. It doesn't sit there churning your HD looking at every file. When NTFS file system makes a change, it just hooks the notification and adds it. Way smarter!
Plus it works the same on Vista, Windows7, XP so you don't have to remember which Windows flavor has which quirk. Just use Everything on all of them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :

I want to let the Search look for file or folder whose name matches the search word or includes the search word. With Everything, it runs in the tray. You hit the hotkey and type the substring. All the files with the substring come up in a window. You can open the folder containing the files, drag & drop to copy or move the files to an explorer window etc..
And it's free. I've been using it about 6 or 8 months on 3 OS. Never had any issues. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :
