So almost close to 2 years and still I face this problem on a regular basis. This happens even on a fresh install of windows and no tweaks installed.

For the 2yrs running I've been able to replicate this issue about 90% of the time, I uninstall a game and if that game has left over files on the folder I go to the folder and manually delete it and there I get an permission error.

This also happens when I replace .exe files of the same name.

    Earl,

Not sure why you keep getting this, but you could use the free program Unlocker to make it easier to delete them with.

I disabled the folder thumbnails and I think that was causing the issue, I havent encountered the issue again for a while now. Ill report if it really solved the problem.

Altho it blows that my images are not thumb nailed anymore, is there a way to get the images to be thumb nailed but folders just regular icons ?

    Hello EarlZ,

You may be able to change the default folder icon using the tutorial below to use a icon of your choice instead so that it will not show thumbnails for folders anymore, but will for files.

Folder Icon - Change Default Icon

    Hope this helps,
