This is the OCZ forum. Jo6Pak is right, a lot of very good info. OCZ Forum
Oh boy. I left the system in perfect operating condition at about 5. I just installed Windows fresh on the SSD, and done some minor customizations. I had not yet put in my serial number or activated as I heard somewhere that by putting the code in later you essentially can do a fresh install with the upgrade disk.
I just got back at 8 to the message "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause..."
The apparent problem is "File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe status:0xc000000e"
Now I think you guys might be able to help me again. Why in the hell would this happen to a fresh install of Windows 7?
I start to think that something is wrong with your SSD. If you got it from NewEgg, you can send it back. I had to do that once with an OCZ Vertex that was also defunct. Exchanging it was no problem at all - just call them beforehand. They even send you an UPS mailing slip.
I'm running
CPU: E8400 overclocked
GPU: EVGA GTA 260 Core 216
Ram: 4 gigs OCZ
Hard drive: WD Black 1tb (data), OCZ Vertex SSD (boot, or at least that's what it should be!)
Mobo: Asus P5N-D
I'm starting to think there might be something wrong with the SSD as well. There's no chance that I need to enable some special option to make a SSD work as a boot drive, is there? I'm still searching for info on the OCZ forum to look further into this.
My SSD (Vertex) was doing the exact same things for a day before I lost it.
Not sure if its truly dead , or some other issue. Still working on it ..
OCZs forums as already suggested will be the best place.
So you're still working on your SSD problem or you just returned it, wishmaster?
They can be quirky and there are few things you need to know before you start (like NOT formatting it). Vertex Forum has step by step instructions for what you are trying to do. They also have a program you can download from there called 'Sanitary Erase'. It will un-brick your new SSD so you can start over clean.
