I'm not sure that I understand what you did. Go to Control Panel>Folder Options>View tab and select "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and you might deselect "Hide Protected Operating System Files", as I have done.

Welcome,

In the future to avoid problems, before making any changes that you are not familiar with make a system restore point. In the event of a problem you can always restore. In addition, you have the capablity of making an image of the entire hard drive (system image) make one now and update once a month. In the event of a future problem you can always restore. Keep the system image on a external hard drive.

Hosts file disappeared
Hi, I have no hosts file. I just went to create a new one and went to save it in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc but a dialog box popped up telling me hosts already exists and whether it wants me to overrwrite it. Thought this was odd because there's nothing there called hosts. Any ideas?

File magically disappeared, still visible in the Windows search index
I was looking for a file when I noticed it was gone. I fired up the Windows search engine and Search Everything, both of which said the file was still there. When I try to open the search result in any media player, it says the file could not be found. I already restarted my system, but both...
