Windows 7 - Help problem getting onto windows!!!!

ok So my friend asked me to look at her computer it was working just fine for a few weeks, then yesterday she turned it on got to the login screen typed in her password and this is what it says ...The user profile service service failed to logon user profile cannot be loaded." I have tried to reset password but it say's you must have a disc to reset the password which she does not have one. She is running windows 7 her husband did the upgrade from vista. please help she can't even get into windows or anything. Thanks in advance!!

Does safe mode work? The upgrade may have broken something too. As for the pass, try the Offline NT Password Editor which might be able to break the pass. If you want to clean install 7 and data needs to be extracted you can try an Ubuntu Live CD.
