Cannot log into particular https site

    Hi,

I have been unable to log into a particular https site that I use for work. As I type in my name and password, I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

I diagnosed the connections and looked for more information and there is nothing obvious that stands out.

I assumed it was an issue with Windows 7, so I created a Virtual PC to operate Windows XP and I am able to log in.

Any ideas? I would prefer to access this site through my host PC.

Thanks so much for your replies!

Hello smegforbrains, welcome to Seven Forums!

You are sure that there's no chance that the site in question could be down for some reason?

    Bare Foot Kid,

I have accessed the site on a colleagues computer. I have accessed it via WindowsXP on my Virtual PC. The company hosting the site has assured me that they are 100% compatible with Windows 7 and IE 8.

    Thanks!

And the url of the site is what? By telling us you can have people from all over the World checking it, and if none of us can access it, then the site is probably down.

Ok first thing I would try is placing that https://URLHERE into your trusted sites (IE)

I would then check the advanced options under IE8 to see which version of "SSL/TLS" are checked.

FZ21Z - Thanks for your reply. I know the site is up. =)

BRADY - I added it to my trusted sites. Under Internet Options - Advanced - SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are checked - TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are checked.

And now check your xp advanced settings in your Virtual XP machine and compare. I use SSL 3.0 and TSL 1.0 only.

thought I would be proactive and tell you the next part in case the advanced settings didn't fix your issue. Disable your AntiVirus or Firewall and try again.
