From the error message, it appears that it's already deleted, but the icon just hasn't disappeared.

You can try right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Refresh. If that doesn't do it, try restarting the machine. Let us know what happens.

Have you tried deleting it on reboot?

Copy the text in the codebox into notepad and save it as any-name.reg , right click the saved file and select 'Merge'. Click "yes' to the prompt. Delete the file by right clicking on it and selecting 'Delete on Reboot' option.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Delete on reboot\command]
    @="CMD /E:OFF /C REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Currentversion\\RunOnce /v \"Del %1 OnNextReboot\" /d ^\"cmd.exe /c DEL /F /Q \\\"%1\\\"\" /f\""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Delete on reboot\command]
    @="CMD /E:OFF /C REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Currentversion\\RunOnce /v \"Del %1 OnNextReboot\" /d ^\"cmd.exe /c RD /S /Q \\\"%1\\\"\" /f\""

I did what you told me to do, but still the file exists.

Try deleting in safe mode. Boot into safe mode by tapping F8 at boot.

I would suggest that you re-create the file it is looking for. open it using the shortcut, close the file, delete the shortcut and then the file.

I did re download the file again and delete it, after 5 mins the file appears again and cannot be deleted.

ps: lately I noticed that RAM consumption is high, about 46%, with no programs running except Firefox.
