Windows 7: Windows 7 Raid

Windows 7 Raid

I will install Windows 7 and I will mirror two hardisk using the Windows 7 (not by a controller).

My questions are the following:
  • in case one of the disks fails, what is the procedure to change it?
  • Also if I would like to remove one of the mirrored disks, will it still work with one disc?
  • And can I install the other disc on another computer to retrieve the data?

Note that on the mirrored disk I will store only files such as MP3s etc. Windows files and program files will be installed on a separate disc.

That should work fine; that is what the mirroring is designed to do!

Basically, is just keeps both disks synced. If one fails, you have a duplicate.

thanks for the tip ... i was asking because when using a hardware raid controller, if it fails the discs will work only on a similar controller.
