    Windows Live Messenger crashes on startup.


    I don't know why but whenever messenger starts when i log in it just immediately crashes and I have to start it myself.

    You can try a couple of things.

    1) Run WLM in compatibility mode. Log out from WLM and close the window. Go to Start-Programs-Windows Live, then right Click on WLM and select properties. Then click on Compatibility tab and run it as Vista SP2.

    2)Look inside event viewer for any clue. You can create a custom view by filtering on Event Source as Windows Live Messenger. It'll then show up all recent events associated with WLM.

    3) Uninstall WLM, cleanup, then reinstall.

    I used to run it in compatibility and its fine. You just don't get the superbar features.
