Unifex is right. Don't mess with the recycle bin folders. They are system created. I have the same thing on my computer.

If you had some other operating system in your machine before - such as Vista or Windows 7 beta or RC1, than chances are you've got left-over stuff there. Deleting one of them might be bad for you - you can accidentally delete the Recycle Bin from the current operating system. That's not a catastrophe in itself - but do you really need mess with this stuff?

Hello again libengan.

I agree with what's been said, that may cause unforeseen problems; you got rid of the issue anyway, right.

Take note and copy the filename of that problematic file including the extension name, if you are not aware of the extension name, open My Computer, at the top menu click on Tools, then Folder Options, go to View Section and uncheck “Hide Extensions for known file types”. Click Apply and OK to exit, you should now see the whole filename.

Now, open Notepad then create a file, you don’t need to put anything on it, save it with a filename that is the same as the undeletable file in a different folder (if shall we say you have undeletable abc.avi then name the txt file as abc.avi, it will prompt you if you’re sure about this, just press yes).

Windows will now see the same file as the undeletable one, copy this to the desktop where the undeletable file is located and overwrite it. After that you can now delete the file.

Yes, the issue has been resolved using LockHunter which got the file into the recycle bin. When LockHunter couldn't access the file once it was in the recycle bin, I used it to delete one of the three recycle bin folders under C:\$recycle.bin. This in fact didn't delete the folder as I would have expected, but did remove the problematic file entirely. The three identical recycle bin folders have been left untouched.

Thanks so much everyone!
