    Question about Win7 Home Premium

I installed Win7 HP on an older Compaq Evo D310 and it runs great. Can't get the Aero Glass to work though with the Nvidia GeForce 2X card. Anyone know what would be a better AGP card for this machine? Thanks.

I have a 6800 series in a older machine running 2 Gigs of ram with a Pentium 4 3.2 so I`m thinking that you need at least a 6 series or higher. Anything lower and the screen savers might not run properly.

The Evo D310 is listed as having an AGP 4X 1.5V slot.

If you go to www.newegg.com (recommended even if you can't or won't do business with them), do a power search on desktop graphics cards.

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

Choose AGP 4X/8X, and DirectX9, 10, and 10.1. The cheapest cards use the nVidia FX5200 chipset, their lowest-end DX9 model. At the high end is the Radeon 4670, which is a DX10.1 card.

The cards I looked at there all seem to have two slots (3.3V and 1.5V) or one (1.5V only). I think that any of them would be compatible with the D310.

It might be more cost-effective to get a used nVidia 6800 or 6600 based card.
