Hello Foureye2004, and welcome to Seven Forums.

See if you can drag the folder to the taskbar until you see the Pin to Windows Explorer message under it, then drop it on the taskbar to have it pinned in the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated to the day before when it worked may be able to fix it instead then.

Did you try pinning from an open or closed program? With an open program, right-click the program's button on the taskbar to open the program’s Jump List, and then click Pin this program to taskbar. With a program that is not open, click Start, find the program’s icon, right-click the icon, and then click Pin to taskbar.

If it still doesn't work for you, Shawn's suggestion of a System Restore is worth a try.

    Cheers,

Try installing Windows Tweaker. It will allow adding "Pin to start menu" and "Pin to taskbar" to your folders.

This may be a more complicated solution than you want but I like it because you get a separate icon for the new folder. Setting up Windows 7 to function like XP post #12

There are a couple of links in the article mentioned including this one How to Pin Special Windows Items to the Taskbar | Windows 7 Tutorials which I used.
