Libraries do not work. I just see music.library-ms.

Hi, I recently did a check for registry errors after upgrading my hard disk and reinstalling Windows 7 and all of my programs. It found over 1000 which are now fixed.

However since doing this I can no longer access my libraries.
I am faced with, in both my Computer and in the start menu where the libraries should be, the name of the library followed by '.library-ms' as well as the blank page icon when you hover over them (please see the attached file).

Some how this file extension has disassociated itself from whatever program it is supposed to open with.

    Does anyone know:

a: What program it needs to be associated with,
b: If it is possible to fix and
    c: How to fix it.

Any and all help will be appreciated; thank you in advance for your help.

    Oli

What ever your did with the registry did this.
So....uh I don't know deleting those 1000 or registry entries screwed things up.

If you play with the registry (which is completely useless and counterproductive), you must expect this to happen. I assume you made a registry backup before you played with it. Reload this backup. Else you will have to do a system restore from a shadow or an image (if you have any).

Hi, I've restored my registry and all its 1300 or so errors. It has fixed the libraries problem but what should I do about my registry now? Clean up the registry excluding file extensions and invalid file associations?

    Thanks whs.

Oli, just leave the registry alone. Those so called errors are only imagined. A few orphans in the registry don't hurt. If you have problems with file associations, fix them here: Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations.

Default Programs - Associate a File Type or Protocol
