    Keystrokes to restart ?

    Hi

Sometimes my pc starts with a blank screen. It has booted ok and is running but some little bug stops the screen getting the signal. I know its booted ok as Avast says out loud "virus database has been updated". My graphic card is a ATI Raedon 1650 and the driver is up to date. (windows 7 driver not available but vista one works)

When this happens I want to use keystrokes to restart rather than using the power key to shut down. (the screen is blank at this point) A restart normally solves the problem.

Anyone know if this is possible ?

    Thanks

you might be able to do the old Ctrl+Alt+Delete

or if everything is loading and then not showing anything you could try Alt+F4 and then press Enter

Edit: Restart might be possible with Alt+F4 and then up key or down key then Enter to select one of the other options in the Shutdown menu

lol another one is Windows Key then Up Key then Enter <--this will probably just shut down in Win7

try these while in windows when you can view what is happening.

It's Win key > Right (not up) > Enter. This shuts down Windows.

    Win key > 2 * Right > R restarts Windows

    Hello Fergeit,

One thing I'd like to add is that I have also been having blank screen issues. After lots of troubleshooting, I'm pretty sure that my monitor coincidentally stopped working as well right after I upgraded my computer. While your problem may not be the same as mine, the symptom is similar and the thread has a lot of helpful troubleshooting suggestions from other members of this forum. I hope it is of some use to your blank screen issue.

Thanks, have checked it out. I think my problem is different from the one in that post. But I am happy to live with it as it only happens now and then. I can now restart the pc without shuttung down using the power button.

Will keep trying to find a solution.

    Thanks again guys.
