How do you turn off jump lists?

I still want to leave recent items enabled but the jump lists constantly popping up every time my cursor moves across the task bar is driving me nuts!

Hi Bonzai - You can unpin an item from the taskbar - Open the program's Jump List > point to the item > click the pushpin icon > and then click Unpin from this list. Using Jump Lists to open programs and items

that is not what I am trying to accomplish. Lets say I open word, everytime my cursor passes over the word icon in the taskbar a window pops open with the jump list. I wan't those windows to stop popping up.

I'm getting the feeling that you are using the term jump list wrong. The jump list is what appears when you right click on a button. It contains the options to pin/unpin, close window, etc. Are you saying that is what is showing up when you simply hover on a button? Attaching a screenshot would be helpful.

    Hello bonzai.

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below to see if this is what you are asking.

Yes possibly I could be using the wrong term. I have attached a screen shot of my cursor hovering on the open Firefox icon on my task bar and the resulting window that pops up beside it... it is this preview window that I am trying to disable without disabling recent items in the start menu.

Thanks Brink and others that responded, used the extended time delay option in the guide posted so that I could keep Aero, works great.
