Win7 shutting down issue - forcing programs to close

    Hi everyone,
I'm quite certain that this is not just happening to me.

I always have some programs open that don't require saving etc. such as Opera browser or M$ Outlook 2007 or even desktop itself.

When opera and outlook or any other program incl. explorer windows are open when I choose to turn the pc off, win7 always asks me if I want to force to close 'the following' programs (including win explorer!) and even before I manage to do anything, the question disappears and the programs are forced to be closed.
Afterwards when I open outlook it tells me that outlook wasn't shut properly and that PST file needs repairing. When I open opera it also tells me it wasn't shut properly and asks me what I want to do next... Icons on desktop are often disorganized...
This is really annoying because at the moment I have to manually close all programs before I shut down the pc.

Today for example my outlook crashed. The profile exactly. Nothing to do with PST file or outlook itself, but profile was corrupted. Everytime I wanted to open outlook it said that the window can't be open.

Anyways, is there a solution for my issue? More timeout or something? My friends also have this issue.

    Hello zYx.

It would be better for Windows and other programs and applications to close everything before you shutdown Windows 7, as you can see it causes many problems and may eventually disable the OS.

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

    Hello ZYX,

Instead of exiting Outlook before you shut down your computer, try shutting down Windows while Outlook is still running.

    Thanks.

I changed this to 20000ms and it seems it helped. I left opera and outlook running when I shut down the system and I didn't get any stupid questions when closing nor any problems when opening opera and outlook. I wish I could set this to 2 seconds, but I can't be asked to close all programs. Even though I have set windows explorer to open same folders which were open when closing system.

edit: didn't work for long though... I had to reboot my pc now and my outlook profile is again corrupted grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Does this tweak work with rebooting as well?

I think I need to create a script-button to close all programs first and then turn off the system.
