    Hello !!

What happen when you type explorer.exe under new task ?? See whether that works !! Or open the Command prompt (Elevated mode) then type in

    cd\
    cd Windows
    dir

See whether you have explorer.exe.old list there !! iF so revert the command
ren explorer.exe.old explorer.exe and press enter see whether that works !!

Post us back how it goes

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Just a question to the thread starter? Did you replace it because you wanted a custom start orb?

And this seems like the problem I have with my OS. Once I remove any system file (or rename), it wont let me cut copy paste, rename, or run anything as an admin.

I think that the best advice for this OP or any other with ideas of improving the system, is to make a back up first. I know that is the first thing that I would do.

From your shadows we can probably recover the Explorer.exe with Shadow Explorer. Navigate to C > Windows - it is at the end after winsxs. Right click on it > Export. Then move it back where it belongs.
The problem will be that there are a lot of winsxs entries that have to be also working. So if those are still intact, it may work.

After you get this all fixed, may i suggest getting a quality backup program if you are going to mess with system files. For example... I got Norton Ghost, and it saved me multiple times, even from the problem you have right now.

And if you have a Windows 7 installation DVD, im pretty sure you can extract the explorer.exe from the install.wim, and put it on your windows partition if you have using dism that comes in the Windows 7 PE. Look up a topic on how to use DISM.

No need to spend any money on complex programs like Ghost (which I use myself in Vista - LOL). This is a free and easy solution: Imaging with free Macrium

Why are you dissing me if you use it yourself? It is a great program. I like it because i can restore a single file instead of a bunch or my whole system.
