I had the same problem too. And I found the solution to my case. It was due to I use multi-boot and during the process setting up the multi-boot the active partition was changed.

I use the DISKPART command in Win7 to change the active patition back to the Win7 boot loader partition. The commands are:

    1. Run Cmd
    2. Diskpart
    3. select disk 0
    4. list partition (here you will see a small partition which is the boot loader, in my case it is partition 1)
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. exit

That's it. Then I can do hibernate and funny enough my multi-boot is still working, even the active partition is the Windows 7 partition.

    Hope this helps someone.
I did this on my laptop as I read it worked for others and now I cannot get my laptop to boot anymore.

After I shut down I got the following on screen on my next attempt to boot up:

    "Loading DRMX V8.00...

    DRMK Version 8.00
    Command.com Build 37 - Jul 28, 2008
    DRMK Kernel Build 15 - Aug 8, 2008
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Dell Inc. All Rights Reserved

    C:\>"

Am I screwed? How can I boot my computer back up normally again? Did I lose my C: drive data?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi RC,
have a look at this Dell thread, should help.
Loading DRMK Version 8.00 error - Microsoft OS Forum - Software & Operating Systems - Dell Community
(note didn't read it but it more than likely has something to do with the fact its Vista related, did you upgrade?)

    Thanks for the reply.

Found out today that the "fix" from this thread earlier "torched" my partition and the computer can no longer boot. I did not lose my data but I now need to save it all and do a fresh install of windows.

Sorry about reviving this post, but this worked in a W10 Dell Laptop which, sometimes, insists in not hibernating, despite no pending updates, drivers or whatnot. After refreshing the active boot partition it immediately hibernated. After MANY other checks and attempts this one really solved. Thank you!
