I use a mac for work. Love it, unfortunatly its just not the same for games. Linux, well i tried, and just couldnt get my head round it. However i keep dabling with ubuntu and thats growing on me if im honest. However, like the majority i game, which leaves me windows. Used it for a long time so its comftable to me. I took the plunge once formatted all my drives and installed mandriva once. It lasted about 3 days, until xp went back on. Talk about coming home.
Windows is what it is. However i suppose if linux had been in windows place all those years ago then it may be a diff story now. Windows 7 is a very promising OS. and if im honest im enjoying it just as much as when i was playing with XP all those years ago.

    DOS > W3.0 > W3.1 > W95> W98> XP> Vista> Seven

    Notice a trend there ?

Linux is alright, but it's much more fun to curse an 'evil' corporation than a group of open source developers

I have dabbled in the dark arts (or Linux rather, but whats the difference, right? :P ), and all I had was troubles. No, not troubles with the terminal. lol. Lack of drivers, and not a very easy way to install things offline. I have 3 different types of internet connections. I have dial up, on 2 different modems, this never worked. I have a prepaid bigpond internet connection, yeah that doesn't work either (after a lot of work arounds you can get it to work, but to have it work in Mac/Windows machines again you have to go undoing that - not very convenient to say the least) and I also have a post-paid bigpond wireless connection, which after entering some commands into the terminal DOES work. At the speed of dial up that is (usbserial driver has a 56k buffer I believe, which is what causes this) (which is not how slow its suppose to go). When Mac OS X and Linux work, they work great. When they don't work though, your going to hell and back. At least when Windows doesn't work, it still sorta works most of the time. Every OS has its disadvantages, even though people lying through their ass (like Linux and Mac OS X can't get viruses, do some bloody research. Sure they are more secure out of the box, but with a couple of programs and some common sense, you can be that secure on a Windows machine as well) doesn't help the matter.

When I started I had a choice of PC-DOS or Apple. I would never go with the option that locked me in to one hardware supplier even if they weren't overpriced and overbearing. I skipped Windows3.1 and switched with Windows95.

I have dabbled with Linux but not in a few years. I have never bought an Apple product but I've had a number of friends with Apples asking me to help them. Apparently, my friends lack intuition.

I don't have a computer so I can use an OS. I have the operating system to run programs I need or want. Linux doesn't cut it when it comes to programs.

I have always used Windows. For me, the sheer ease by which Windows allows you to do things is a clear winner.

I wouldn't consider a Mac - too proprietary and a lack of software.

From what I've seen through reading magazines, Linux is too fiddly to set up and awkward to use.

    I use Windows because....

    • The majority of apps are written for it
    • It's just been proven safer than MAC
    • Linux is just too much trouble, sorry guys
    • I find MAC's and anything else "Apple" are over-priced and underperforming
    • I hate Apple's cheap shot commercials
    • Apple software is often very invasive and hell to uninstall
