add search filter greyed out

How do I add new search options, especially for a plain file folder. The tutorials show a bunch of options but all I see are date and size, even after I extend the size of search box.
BTW I've read all previous posts and help on topic but answers don't apply.

Search Engine "Filter Bubbling"?????
Has anybody heard of Search Engines using "Filter Bubbling"? Apparently it has something to do with "filtering" search results to prevent people from getting all the relevent information that they searched for. I normally use Scroogle.org (NOTE: NOT Scroogle.COM, which is a porn site) as my...

"Add a search filter" greyed out
I haven't been able to find a solution for this: I have an explorer window open, either pointed to the root of my C: drive, or to some folder (say C:\data). When I click the Search window, the drop-down appears showing previous searches, but the "Add a search filter" is greyed out. What's...

Q: "Date created" Search filter?
In Explorer, is there any way to do a search for files CREATED on a specific date or within a range of dates? I've found the search filter using "Date modified" but not "Data created". The old XP "Search companion" did it, but that's no longer available in Windows 7, as far as I know.
