This isn't really a problem. Well I guess it is, but not one that can be fixed as far as I know.

I've just been hoping they'd put in the option to keep windows from grouping. There's 2 kinds of grouping now. Grouping into the small icon, and sticking similar windows together when you have icon grouping disabled. I'm so used to having MSN main window followed by Firefox followed by message windows and everything else. Kinda hate the windows sticking to Msn. Wish they'd put in the option to disable that.

There is a option for that

Right click on the task bar and click properties then look for the taskbar options and select never combine out of the options

Taskbar Button Grouping - Enable or Disable

That's what I was talking about smsff. Doing "never combine" just keeps it from combining into the little icon. When you're using regular windows, similar programs still group up. Not in the same way, they just stick to each other. Like say I open Msn, and then Firefox. When someone messages me on MSN, it'll put that window next to the MSN window, to the left of my Firefox window.

Probably not..personally I rather like having like programs group together. I still remember XP.....if I had enough active tasks to cause the icons to get too small then I had to mouse over each one from the start of the list until I found the one I wanted, now I find them together and don't have to mouse over every window to find a specific window, I just have to search starting with the first matching icon.

This is why Windows is so infinitely modifiable....if enough people want this, then someone will write an app to do it.

This is caused by pinning. Unpin the program, and they should unstick.

    They aren't pinned either.

Of what....I am no longer running XP so it might be a little hard to provide a screen shot.

I know what he is talking about.

What happens is that the window shows up like normal, but with a number (of windows open) on the left, and an arrow on the right, and when you click on it, it brings up a menu (similar to the snap menu on Seven) with a list of all the window names.
