Repetition of ApplicationData 10 times under Local

Repetition of ApplicationData 10 times(continued from previous thread)

(I am not a tech person and do not understand your terminology in previous thread concerning same subject.)

I do not understand what is going on here!!! When my Second Copy tried to copy all of other Application Data I get an error message that says will not copy. Really I am interested in coping only 1 copy of Microsoft Live Mail especially the contact info and the email not 10 copies like what seems to happen sometimes especially when I am using Windows to copy ML Mail from one disk to another without Second Copy.

I went thru the Application Data "folders" in C drive and did not intend to delete the extra but that is what happened. I checked my email and there was no change.
    What harm is done?

Jim I am not a tech person and do not understand your terminology.

Sorry but I am not really understanding what you are wanting to do, and what is going wrong.

This is exactly what I thought also. I made that mistake when first starting to use W7. I solved it by deleting my user account, and making another from the Administrator account.

"Multiple Application Data Folders - Why & How
I have run into a bit of a problem. I ran my weekly Spy Sweeper scan today
and it was taking way too long - over 6 hours. I saw it was running the scan
on the Application Data folder under my user name. Upon further investigation
I found many Application Data folders under the Application Data folder,
approximately 10. I recognize they are all short cuts or mapped folders. Yet
there should be only one. How do I correct this problem? AND better yet does
    anyone know how it happenned?

    "Hello,

There is actually no folder named "Application Data".

This was a folder in Windows XP, but in Windows Vista, this folder has

    been moved.

"Application Data" is a junction (fancy name for a special kind of

shortcut) that exists in Vista to point old programs to the new

    location under certain scenarios.

Windows prevents programs from accessing these special junctions like

a folder to prevent this "hall of mirrors" effect from happening.

The problem here, is that Spy Sweeper does not correctly recognize

that this is a junction, and (if you have not changed the default

security on this junction) is bypassing the security settings that

    Windows imposes to prevent this.

Since removing this junction could stop some of your programs from

working correctly, it is best to leave it there. The ball is in Spy

Sweeper's court to work correctly with these junctions."

As an example of what can happen when changing permissions of junction points a user posted this screenshot: https://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/general-discussion/40295d1259928355-green-ribbon-death-back-venegeance-screendump.jpg

It has everything to do with it. You are denied access to these junction points for a reason. The only way you can have this problem is because you altered permission some where, some how.
