Windows 7: Is there a quick access to the Desktop?

Is there a quick access to the Desktop?

Running Win 7 Home Premium - and have been unable to figure out a way to quickly access the Desktop. In XP I was able to move a shortcut to the quick launch task bar, but there seems to be no way to do this with 7. I tried to pin it to the taskbar without success.

As it is now I have to minimize open applications to get back to the desktop.

Am I overlooking the obvious?

Mary

Welcome

Bottom right, near the clock a little box can barely be seen, just click on it.

If you just put the cursor on it, you can just peek at the desktop.

Hello FDM, welcome to Seven Forums!

You can add a shortcut to the taskbar, have a look at the tutorial at the link below.

In all due respect, but that is a pretty useless shortcut that just crowds the taskbar - especially as there is already a shortcut to the right of the clock as Richard pointed out. BFK, would you know why anybody wants this shortcut?

Some do, that seems to be what the OP is asking for, right?

I read this: " have been unable to figure out a way to quickly access the Desktop" as the main problem. But nevertheless, the taskbar has the shortcut - why have 2.

Most appreciative of the helpful suggestions made by Rich, whs and Bare Foot Kid. All of value to this Win 7 novice.
