Very Weird Typing Issue. (hard to explain till u read)

Ok, Well Hi everyone I am new here and I have a very annoying problem that I would really like help on...
To explain the problem I am going to have to explain the circumstances on which it occurs. Any time I am typing, whether it be in firefox, internet explorer, microsoft office, notepad, or any form of thing that involves typing, half the time the window suddenly becomes idle.
Let me provide more detail on "idle". So the window of the program is still there but it just won't won't react to my typing anymore... It's as if I had clicked outside of the window. The only way to get it to respond is if I move my mouse and click back inside the window somewhere and continue typing. Even if I have a full screen window, it still happens...
This problem occurs so frequently that it has happened 4 times while I have been typing this...
    I would appreciate any response!
EDIT: It doesn't happen when I am just typing. It may just randomly occur.

EDIT2: More information on my computer. It is not infected with a virus as I have 2 anti-virus programs running and have done multiple scans of my comptuer. I have also tryed using ccleaner to clear out temporary files.

Sounds like it could be the keyboard, or the driver. If you can use a different keyboard give that a try.

Go to device manager and check the driver for the keyboard. Make sure that it is up to date and working properly,

Go to search, type event viewer and look for any errors around the time that you were typing.

Edit get rid of one anti virus, that alone could be the problem.
Do not use the Ccleaner reg cleaner option.

If you have a laptop, you might be hitting the touchpad.

    Have you cleaned it recently.
I'm not saying dirt would cause the problem but cleaning it might?

If clicking on the window restores typing input... it sounds like something is stealing your keyboard focus....

This will have to be some program running in the background and it will most likely have a taskbar icon, it might even be in the systray, next to the clock. You may have to do some experimenting to find it... but stopping the program should also stop the annoying behavior.

There is also a registry tweak that may stop this...

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    Two DWORD values ...
ForegroundFlashCount should be in the 3 to 10 range
ForegroundLockTimeout should be 20000 or more.

As always... write down the old settings in case you need to put them back.

    Hope this helps.

wow guys thanks for the fast replies!
Well I am running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I am on a laptop with intel chip core duo (something like that)

I tried to clean the registry and all the other temporary files and ran a full virus system scan. It may have fixed the problem but I have yet to find out. It has only been 10 minutes since I tried it so if the problem returns we can try the next step

    Try turning off your touchpad.

I have hit it before and changed focus...
