    Explorer/System Color Management

Just a question regarding color management and Windows 7. Has color management been added for OS applications such as explorer? Even though Vista supports color management, it is only at the application level i.e. apps like Photoshop or Lightroom, icons and application colors still look incorrect, has this been address with Windows 7?

Hello Dave, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but this may help with your color calibration.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the response but that is not what I am looking for.

Basically, if you use a high gamut display with Vista color aware applications will display correct colors, but the OS itself will display incorrect colors on the desktop or explorer. This results in your icons/apps having extremely highly saturated colors since the system itself disregards the displays color profile.

I wanted to know if the above behavior has been corrected with Windows 7, that is that explorer and the desktop + applications will now actually use the systems generated color profile resulting in appropriate colors being displayed throughout the system rather then being specific to only color aware applications.

Here is an example of what I am trying to describe, you will notice that the screenshot inside of photoshop has correct colors of the desktop, while the desktop itself is invalid and more saturated. The differences might appear subtle in this screenshot but they are pretty drastic when working with the display.

I have not noticed this personally in Windows 7, but I suppose that you could setup a dual boot with Windows 7 to test to see. The Windows 7 RC will be released soon (May 5th) to the public by Microsoft, and is already leaked now via torrents.
