How can I COMPLETELY remove icons from the tray. Iv tried going to the customize page, and choose Hide Icons and Notifications, but it still shows up. Any ideas?

Go to this page ( Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons\System Icons ) to turn off the ones that are listed. For the rest you have to disable the program in the startups or "Hide icon and notification".

Yea, i just said I have already done that, yet it shows up in the menu when you click the arrow, but not on the taskbar. I want it completely gone. And I dont want to disable it (partly because I cant disable the safely remove hardware icon)

Can't have your cake and eat it. As long as they are running in the startups, they will show up - at least in the hidden box.
Not that it matters, but why would you do that anyhow.

I see some utilities out there that claim to do it, but none free. Try the big download sites like download.com, snapfiles, softpedia etc..

Just to be clear, what I want is for a couple of these icons to be GONE

the big green H square, and the safely remove hardware icon. Gone from the tasbkar and the popup panel.

I have no idea what the H is but I would assume that the icon for removing things wouldn't show if you don't have anything plugged in.

I've just got a utility to work with anything that's plugged into the USB ports, SafelyRemove, it will tell you what you have making it easy to unplug the correct item.
