Messed up the favorites tab

I'm really not sure what I did, but I completely removed the "downloads, etc" from my favorites(see attached pic). I thought the obvious solution was to just drop the folders I wanted pinned into favorites, but no such luck.

I just want downloads attached under favorites again for ease of use.

Thanks

Hello SquirrelTakos,

This tutorial from Vista should work for Windows 7 just as well to hopefully fix this for you.

Favorite Links Empty - Vista Forums

Hope this helps,

unfortunately, trying to restore them by right clicking does nothing for me. I tried the second option also and that file in the regedit was already there. If I try and add anything to favorites by right clicking and hitting "add current location to favorites" nothing happens. It acts completely dead.

I might just give up on this completely. It's not a huge deal, but it's rather annoying.

Ok. Double check to make sure that you have the default location set for the C:\Users\(user-name)\Links folder using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below.

Have you tried the restore defaults button to see if that does it?

I'm pretty sure it's still in it's default location... [C:\Users\Dan\Favorites]

Tried the restore defaults, still nothing.

If you have one available, you can do a system restore using a restore point dated when this did work to fix it.

If not, then you can do a repair install without losing anything.
