    BIOS Onetime Password *Help Needed*

So I recently purchased a Vaio P92KS 2.0ghz 256gb SSD from Dynamism - Online shopping for Ultra-mobile Tech and Gadgets. I had it for about 3 days, set up a BIOS password and ran through a bunch of tweaking. Had the computer working perfectly and looking exactly to my liking, even got the boot time down to 19s, when alas I entered my BIOS password incorrectly 3x.

Tip: don't make your BIOS password something like 11313 or 13313 or 11331 because you will eventually enter it wrong.

Now it's on a screen giving me a Key and asking me for a "Onetime password".

I contacted Sony Support in the US and they asked me to fax them a receipt to prove ownership and they'd have the Onetime password to me within 24 business hours. I faxed it over and got a call about 2 hours later explaining that because my specific model was Japan-only, I'd have to contact Sony in Japan for the password. I contacted Sony Japan and they told me that because I didn't purchase the computer directly from Japan that I'd have to go through the importer that I used and they would contact them for the password. I contacted Dynamism and they told me that they could get it for me but it would take up to two weeks.

Does anyone have a quicker solution for me? I looked at Laptop Rebirth and I'm about 99% sure it's bogus, looked at a couple of ebay unlocking services which seem just as fake.

    Anyone? Anything?

yeah i know that's an option, but i was wondering if there's any sort of a key generator or paid service i can find somewhere online that will be able to give me a Onetime password.

if this isn't possible, can someone direct me towards the correct part to remove? I'm assuming it's the battery attached to the Main Board, but I don't wanna mess something up. below is the vaio p disassembled:

also, removing this battery will only reset the BIOS, correct? nothing else will be affected?

    thanks for the prompt responses.

Hello p92ks, welcome to Seven Forums!

It needs to be said that a static charge from you to the motherboard may / will permanently disable your PC, wash your hands and touch something metal to ground you while you touch the CMOS battery.

forget it then i'm not in that much of a rush to flush $2500 down the drain. unless someone can point me in the direction of a key generator i'll just wait until Sony Japan gets back at me.

thanks for all the help guys, and not just for this problem... i've used about 30 tutorials on this site already to tweak my computer. kickass.

Just remove the CMOS battery for a minute and put it back in. It only takes a minute and has virtually no risks as long as your hands are dry.

Laptops store the BIOS password on a separate chip that is not affected by reseting the BIOS or CMOS battery.

    i mean i could, but look how densely packed this thing is. yƒŒƒ|[ƒgzVAIO type P‚’†g‚‚‚‚‚‚‚‚? -’–‚ƒ~ƒjƒm[ƒg‚“O’•‰‚‚I (2) type P‚́u”–‚v‚Ɓuƒtƒ@ƒ“ƒŒƒXv‚”– | ƒpƒ\ƒRƒ“ | ƒ}ƒCƒRƒ~ƒWƒƒ[ƒiƒ‹

if it was a normal laptop that i hadn't just bought a couple of days ago i'd probably go for it. plus i got this warranty that'll get voided if i open it.

Try this. This has a lot of options from software you can run (not an option) to backdoor manufacturer passwords: How to Bypass or Remove a BIOS Password | Technibble
