Hi everyone. Hope your easter went well.
I have an annoying glitch on my windows7 system. I turn my computer of correctly. When I start it up the next day it will go to the black screen and white writing and asks if I want to start windows normally now.
It does not happen all the time, only 1 out 6 times but it is anoying. Just wondered if anyone had seen it themselves and delt with it. Thanks in advance.
If you unchecked anything in the start up (using msconfig), you will get this message. Put a check in the box saying something like "don't show me this again".
If what I'm thinking is right, then 1 out of 6 of your shutdowns are Stop Errors (BSOD), which is why you get that message when you start up sometimes. Knowing what the error is should allow you to diagnose the problem. To do that we can disable automatic restart by:
1. Right click Computer, select properties.
2. Click advanced system settings
3. Click settings under startup and recovery
4. uncheck automatically restart
Otherwise, you could open the Event Viewer (search it in Start), go to Windows logs, then system and check if there are errors around the time you shut it down.
Every time that windows could not make an orderly shutdown (e.g. after a power failure - but this only one example) you will get this screen. The other options are "safe mode", etc. - right? As arkhi has suggested, you should uncheck automatic restart to force a BSOD. Then you get the Bugcheck codes and can diagnose the cause of the problem.
