I have the Intel 943GML mobile graphics chipset (945 compatible) & have had issues with the new WDDM1.0 drive which is installed natively with builds 7077 & 7100. I have to install the Vista driver found here Download Locations and run the exe in compatability mode for Vista. This will overwrite the existing (newer) driver but will add (at least, it did for me) full functionality for the onboard GFX.

    Hope this helps :)

I've never gotten a BSoD on Vista or Win7. Sometimes they have gotten stuck on shut down, but I don't recall a BSoD.

    Hi Orbital Shark

ok thanks for that, not sure if i've already tried that driver, as i already have it on my laptop. Have gone back to xp at the moment, as i got fed up with no taskbar loading up every time i switched on.

When i give it another go, i'll try that driver, cheers anyway

    Hi again Orbital Shark

Well i just put this driver on my samsung netbook which also has 7100 clean install. My gaming score has gone from 2.1 to 2.2 which is not much better but at least it's better than going lower. But at the moment i have tested the display management going off lots of times and can't make it go wrong at all :)

So for now this seems to have fixed my netbook, will test more later.

Now i will image my xp install then try 7100 again on my laptop using this driver, keep you posted. Ta....

On the netbook i made a mistake, i meant to say the graphics score was 2.2 and the gaming graphics was 3.

Well i done my laptop using those intel vista drivers, my graphics score was 2.6 (same as default drivers) but my gaming graphics was only 2 and it used to be 3.2.

I think it seems better, but when the display wakes up from being off it comes on dim for several seconds then reverts to the normal level ? it never did this when using the default drivers, it just came back on normally, ie not dim then normal level.

So i will do more playing when i get time anyway.

Should it wake up to normal display, or dim then normal display ?

    Thanks...

It's strange that the WEI score has dropped, mine didn't change.

The screen shouldn't start dimmed but i'll look more into it.

Added: I have noticed that the desktop fades into view. This could be a LCD saving measure

hey i use windows 7 build 7100 as 1st experience with win 7 so far it's gr8 better than vista sp1 the problem that i945 is not supported with wddm 1.1 so i installed the driver for 965 and every thing working gr8 till now you can see in attachment here is ho i did it Right Click on desktop >> Change resolution >> Advanced settings >> properties >>> driver tab >> Update driver >> Browse My computer for driver software >>> Let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer >> Untick show compatible hardware >> choose Mobile Intel (r) 965 express chipset family ( microsoft corporation - prerelease WDDM 1.1 ) driver >> Next now you are done using 965 intel driver with wddm 1.1 model support on i945 that doesn't support wddm 1.1 model any ideas if it will work for final version or any draw back thank u !!

    Still bug...

    Greetings to all.
I've being using windows 7 rc build 7100 64 bits since a couple if weeks and it's just awesome, on my Dell Inspiron 1525.

But i've got a problem with WDDM 1.1 and the HDMI and S-Video connection... it's a thing of just pluggin in the TV by S-Video or HDMI, and the system crushes dows, till a beautiful Blue Screen i haven't seen since Win 98.

For solving the problem, i had to reinstall the drivers for win vistax64 and the problem is absolutely resolved with that.

Anyway, does anyone know why happens this bug with WDDM 1.1?

    Thanks!

If you run Performance Monitor, do you see "Video Hardware Errors" listed that coincide with these GPU issues?

Do you ever have GPU issues if you have disabled sleep or hibernate?

I have an onboard Intel G35 that was having these issues, so I changed to an nVidia 9400GT card. I still have the issues.

    Thanks for your answer, Ben.

I've tried all that before, and the problem with WDDM 1.1 is still there. As i've told you, i had to download the driver for win vista x64 from the intel web, and the problem's fixed. Anyway, i must do this every 3 or 4 days, cause windows update changes automatically the drivers.

Any help with that, without disabling WU?

    Thanks!!!
