    Win7 Student copy expiration?

My colleagues and I were discussing various things regarding Win7. The topic somehow got onto how cheap a student at our local university here can purchase MS products. My son, who is a student there, bought Win7 Ultimate for $18.99 and MS Office 2007 for $18.99.

One of my colleagues stated that the software the students purchase use VLK's and that they are set to expire in four years. Does anyone know if that is true?

I haven't heard anything to that tune. Whether they use VLKs are not, I believe a key will never expire.

As Jon has just said, I have read in many posts, the discounts are to help students, financially. The keys are regular keys, based upon all the posts that I have read.

Those are typically standard retail keys, which are handled like all other retail licenses. I don't know the rules, in terms of what happens when the student graduates and is no longer affiliated with the school, but they license won't expire.

I've also never heard of licenses like these expiring after X number of years.
