Windows 7: Locking Notification Tray Icons

Since I use a Trackball mouse, often when I click on one of the icons in this tray, I will inadvertently move the ball forward slightly, in effect dragging the icon off the tray, which makes it disappear, It is then necessary to reset its behavior to show both icon and notification to have it return. One would think that having the Taskbar locked would prevent this, but it doesn't. Is there a setting somewhere that would?

My husband did that with double clicking ... icons were moved all over the place.

I set the mouse to single click, and I/he doesn't that problem anymore.

If you inadvertently dragged it into the (hidden) box, you can just drag it back from there into the notification area. No need to go into the "Customize" window.

I'm trying to remember where the single click option is set? I went through both the Control Panel mouse options and the SetPoint options and did find it. I have 8 icons visible in the notification area and 4 open on a single click, and 4 require double clicking.

Yes, I hadn't noticed that before. It does make it a bit less annoying.
