"Default User" junction point folder issue

Hi I was wondering, and I should've asked here earlier, will the repair install re-create the "Public" and "Default" folders (which are in my "Users" folder) after I've deleted them? How about any junction for those two folders? I know I had one for "Default".

    Thanks.

Try showing Hidden and OS files in Folder Options; see if the Default folder show up then.

You know that's the thing...I just did a FACTORY RESTORE on my laptop (after backing up my stuff of course) yet the default user junction folder is showing on the factory-restored laptop.

And yet I checked hide protected system files and it's STILL showing.

    WE,

The C:\Users\Default folder is only a hidden system folder, and not a hidden protected operating system folder. If you want it to be hidden, you have to select the Don't Show hidden files, folders, and drives option instead.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I meant the Default User junction, not the Default folder. THAT is hidden...but the junction isn't.

CommonTater told me to hide protected system files and it would hide the junction...but the junction is still there. I contacted Dell chat and they said it's suppposed to appear to me regardless...so I took their word.

    You are awesome btw.

Ah, ok. Give this a try. It should set it's attribute back to being a hidden protected operating system file.

    1. Open a elevated command prompt.
    2. Type in each command below and press enter after each one.
NOTE: If your Windows 7 is not on the C: drive for some reason, then substitute the C: drive letter in the path below for what you have instead.
    attrib +r +s +h "C:\Users\Default User" /S /D

    attrib +r -s +h "C:\Users\Default" /S /D

By the way brink, those are the commands (the ones you have bolded) that will make those things hidden right?

Because the "Default" folder is already hidden...however the "Default User" junction isn't, so...do I still put in both? Or just the one for "Default User"?

    Thanks...
