I installed kaspersky pure trail version and my comp takes 2 minutes to boot..is it normal?

Did this slowdown happen right after you installed Kapersky? If you aren't sure if it is to blame or not, you could disable the start up items associated with it and then restart the computer.

ya,I tried disabling KIS through msconfig.i restarted system but same problem..

150 processes????? I'd have to try on purpose to have half that many running at start up.

Not to get into a *peeing* contest, but my system is a bit more powerful than yours, and I wouldn't dream of having that many apps running at start up. I'd rather save my system's power for my intended uses, instead of just churning away at unnecessary bits in the background.


BTW> Running a second monitor doesn't have anything to do with a computer's power. You could do that with a $30 video card installed into a Pentium III tower.

I'm not pointing that out to be an ass, I'm doing so to suggest maybe you could use some friendly advice, either on here, or from a friend to optimize your system. Most likely, the performance of your system is being severely crippled by all those extra processes. Why not trim the fat and make your system run much faster?

That should help, but you should target your CPU to be around 0-2% at all times when idle. If you are at 50% at idle, for example, you'd be doing the same thing as disabling two of your four cores in your CPU.
