problem with tray icons at start up

It doesn't always happen but there are many times when I start up my laptop and expect to see four icons in my system tray, power, internet, volume and desktop weather. more often than not i get two or three max and usually never desktop weather despite task manager telling me it is running. after ending the process and restarting the program it runs fine but this is annoying as you may imagine. Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice to help me out. thanks

No experience, but it would seem that if desktop weather is consistently a problem on start, that it may also be the reason some of the others may be having a problem also. Disable the weather and see if this is true.

I have had a similar problem before. Apparently it was caused by a conflict during startup. My guess is the third party weather program is conflicting with something else during your startup.

If this is the case the easiest solution would be to remove it from your startup list and open it manually each time.

You can look at your starup list in (run msconfig) and uncheck any programs that you do not need running at startup. If your weather program is listed there, you can try leaving it checked while unchecking any others that you don't need.. Then test it by rebooting. Laptops normally load a lot of extra stuff at startup.

You could also set the weather to delayed startup (maybe 2 or 3 minutes later) and see what happens. WinPatrol is an easy tool to do that.
