problem with the partition of drive

i do have a lenovo laptop with windows 7 in which the c: dirve has 180 gb and d: drive has 30 gb when i tried to do the partition in the disk manager there was other two drives with 200 mb and 17 gb which came by default. i shrink the volume of c: drive to 50 gb then an unallocated memory of 130 gb is created with which i am not able to create a new simple partition as there was an error saying maximum number of partitions are existing so i am not able to create a new partition and also the expand volume of d: drive was in disable mode please help me to solve the problem.

The error is that you have already created 4 primary partitions which is the maximum limit of the hard disk . You cannot create more of them directly .You must have created partitions making them logical one.
>Now as you said , you have 2 other drives with 200mb and 17gb space.
>I recommend you to delete one of them (preferably 200mb one).
>Then you will have 3 primary partitions and some 130+ gb of unallocated space.
>Right click that space and make it a new partitions and format it to NTFS . Enjoy !

Before you do:

As those two other partitions came pre-installed, I would find out what they are there for.

And as the unallocated space may be to the left of the D:\ drive (from what you have said) then you will need a third-party app to expand the D:\ partition.

You can try Partition magic or Free partitioner to partition your drive. Just delete one of your primary partitions after taking backup and reformat it to logical drive.

Here's a free third-party partitioner, works very well: Partition Wizard

Be careful! That 200 MB partition is likely the windows boot partition and the 17 gb the Recovery partition. Check in lenovo forums before deleting anything.
