New user account = 90% of clean OS install

A high-end networking friend recently told me that with W7 starting & using a new user account & deleting the old one will accomplish about 90% of the clean out of a W7 install as fresh clean OS install.........any truth in this?

I actually do not remember the specifics just that it starts you with a clean slate & you should see a performance boost? Seems odd to me, I mean if you are having software issues w/ for example a browser why would a fresh user account fix that?

    Shrugs.

If you are happy with things as they are and you have no issues..

Just make sure all your security and etc. is running fine.

Any more help needed just come again.

P.S. a windows disk cleanup may be helpful.:)

He may have meant that deleting a user profile that has been used for a while and letting it rebuild will make things cleaner and faster. This is because all the temp files and Internet Temporary files would be deleted. However before doing that you MUST back up your documents, pictures, music, files, favorites, etc. etc. etc. or they will be deleted too.

    Hubris,

This was more of an interest question, something I do not need to do right at the moment.
    I believe in over-backing-up.
Use Windows BU once a week, DVD every two weeks, Dropbox cloud constant.
