    Got any more suggestions?
Just one, then I'll take the backseat and let the others jump in here...

Have you tried plugging in a USB mouse? At least that would tell you for certain if it's the touchpad or not... (and yes, touchpads do go bad...)

Also I see you're on a NVidia chipset...
This might work for you, at least it did for me...

Ok... Without it sitting on my workbench...I'm out of stuff you can try.

Ok, I did that yesterday. Turned the laptop on/off and did several restarts with no freezing up. :)

No. That's my main computer. See under other. This Lenovo laptop has an Intel 945 mobil express chipset.

I'm going to uninstall the Synaptics program and download one directly from synaptics that includes Win7 support.

Thank you again for all your help.

    UPDATE:

I uninstalled the driver and synaptics program thru ad/remove in control panel. Rebooted. First boot, I had a black screen, 2nd boot I had the frozen cursor on logon screen.

Plugging the usb mouse I can work it. ARRRGGGGHHHHH !!!

Bumping this up because I still have the same problem.

    On this laptop:

    Lenovo3000n100 0768-A52
    Win 7x32
Intel T2060 120 GB HDD 2 GB ram
    Intel Mobil express 945 chipset

I've been working around this doing the following:

On first boot up, when I get to the logon screen, the cursor is frozen. The actual logon on screen looks a bit stretched ? for lack of a better word.
I can sign in, when I get to the desktop, I click the Win button, use the -> to log out and hit R to restart.

Reboot, then all is well when I get to the logon screen and enter my p/w and the cursor works properly.

It's the only time the cursor freezes. It works fine the rest of the time. I have already done all the above listed suggestions.

If anyone can add any idea why this happens, I would really apreciate it.
